Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the primary party to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
